BACH - THE COMPLETE ENGLISH SUITES - PART I
Johann Sebastian Bach's English Suites are among the finest works in the keyboard repertoire. Larger in scale than the intimate French Suites, the six great English Suites each begin with a long, virtuosic opening movement in which Bach's creative genius is given free rein. For part 1 of the complete English Suites this season, Mélisande McNabney presents Suites 2, 3, and 4. To be continued in 2026-2027!
Mélisande McNabney - solo harpsichord
Virtuosic composer and singer of the baroque era, Barbara Strozzi fascinates with her extraordinary career and poignant music. Strozzi's corpus gives pride of place to arias and cantatas for solo soprano and basso continuo, an instrumentation conducive to expressing the most extreme emotions. Delve into the depths of intimacy with rising star soprano Magali Simard-Galdès, who will embody Barbara Strozzi in this unique recital with Mélisande McNabney on harpsichord. The program will be rounded out with works by Monteverdi and Frescobaldi.
